About the Role

We are seeking an experienced leader with a background in engineering workshops, metal work and a passion for driving team performance, for our Housing Component Manufacturing Team Leader role. This is a key role where you will manage, motivate, and engage your team to meet business targets while maintaining a positive and respectful environment. This position requires an individual who can confidently lead a shift of around 8 individuals, including Housing Component Manufacturing Operators and CNC Programmer Operator.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Leadership and Communication: Lead by example, demonstrating Amazon’s Behaviours and Values. Clearly communicate key messages and goals and enhance the team’s reputation within the company.
  • Recruitment: Manage the recruitment process and ensure a successful induction of new team members.
  • Objectives/Goal Setting: Establish and agree on SMART objectives for individuals and the team, tracking performance accordingly.
  • Performance Management and Training: Conduct appraisals, provide regular and constructive feedback and address performance and conduct issues promptly and constructively with HR support. Identify and promote training and development opportunities.
  • Absence Management: Manage sickness and annual leave in line with company policy.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
  • KPI Achievement: Establish and achieve team KPIs.
  • Schedule and Progress Management: Ensure that team are working to the project schedule and change and deviation management.
  • Production Oversight: Oversee pressing, sheet metal, fabrication preparation and CNC processes, meet quality standards and ensure completion of works orders.
  • Lessons Learned: Conduct project debriefs to capture lessons learned and improve processes
  • Material Management: Ensuring all issued materials are tracked. Manage the stock location and relocation of fabrication components, maintaining traceability and control of offcuts and scrap materials.
  • Problem-Solving & Team Support: Collaborate with related teams to resolve any issues that could impact deadlines, both internally and with subcontractors. Support other teams in their problem-solving efforts.
  • Maintenance & Compliance: Involve yourself in liaising with the Engineering team around equipment maintenance and Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM). Ensure adherence to ISO standards and company administrative processes, completing all necessary documentation on time.

Experience:

  • Demonstrable supervisory or people management experience
  • Experience undertaking appraisals and performance management procedures
  • Experience of working within an Engineering Workshop
  • Experience of and ability to read Engineering Drawings
  • Experience of machine shop and/or press cell and/or sheet metal
  • A background in Manufacturing Engineering

Additional Desirables:

  • Stock management experience (i.e. booking in and out of parts)
  • Management of Total Preventative Maintenance
  • Experience of working to ISO standards
